    1. AI adoption could add £512bn to European economy by 2030

     

    Over a third of businesses in Europe adopted AI in 2023, according to a report by AWS. If sustained, AI may add £512 billion in gross value added to the European economy by 2030. The total economic impact could reach £2.9 trillion by the same year.

     

    2. UK Government invests £45m in quantum technology

     

    The UK Government has announced it will invest £45 million in the nation’s quantum technology to improve energy, healthcare, and transport. The funded projects involve the development of a high-tech brain scanner and A smart navigation system for trains.

     

    3. UK Government Committee calls for Live Facial Recognition legislation

     

    In a letter to Home Secretary, James Cleverly, the Justice and Home Affairs Committee said it is investigating the use of Live Facial Recognition by police forces in England and Wales. The committee has called for clear standards and legislation of the technology. 

     

    4. Nation-state threat actor suspected of Cloudflare hack

     

    Cloudflare said it suspects a nation-state threat actor is responsible for a breach of its Atlassian systems. At 4pm on 23 November, Cloudflare’s security team was alerted to the threat actor’s presence and the company cut off the threat actor's access.
